About an hour ago the India Govt. among mounting tension between India and China , decided to ban Chinese apps.
This also includes the ever so famous TikTok . For the complete list of apps that have been banned, click here.
Now obviously this shouldn’t have a been a huge shock to anyone, didn’t we see the current govt previously also making statements against the use of these apps ?
And with the ever growing tension between India and China , with both sides getting into an offensive state, things were bound to happen.
Yes we haven’t gone into a full-fledge war and I truly want to believe that peace is what both sides want but the govt was to take some action (any action) to keep things going to their advantage. We sure don’t want the citizens of this nation to believe that our govt is an impotent one that would not take any actions at all.
Banning these apps for sure will let the Chinese authorities know that we are not taking things lightly. But, how would they retort to this is something we need to wait and watch.
All the political discussions apart, lets talk about banning the famous tiktok.
To be honest, I am relieved that this app has been banned and surely hope all the stupidity will stop now.
Remember all those whatsapp statuses ? Videos that made no sense but had some weird background music in it that you saw on youtube or Instagram?
There was even a so called “TikTok vs youtube” war that was waged between the users of these two platform.
TikTok sure is an app that has turned several generations of people into a bunch of mimicking baboons.
Yes, it can help relieve stress to an extent. But, the negative impact of this app was way more than the positives.
People were so very obsessed with selling themselves on this platform that they would happily put up adult content. Kids were encouraged to re-enact or lip sync with several famous – double meaning jokes and some with explicit language. Honestly, what were these people thinking ?
Why did we as a nation stoop so low ?
When did we as a nation forget the right values to be imparted to our kids ? Yes I do cuss at times, but I do know when my child should learn such things from me — that would be never.
This ban in my opinion is a welcome change.
I just hope that the govt doesn’t back track and unban this app.
India is better off without this.
And I can finally leave my curtain open and not fear having to see my neighbour in action recording these tiktok videos.
